CEO
SAIKOU
Saikou Saidy has established himself as a prominent figure in the football management landscape, particularly in guiding young Gambian talent towards international recognition. His journey began in 2012 as a football scouter, and from 2016 to 2018, Saikou gained invaluable experience while working in a football agency in Belgium. This period allowed him to collaborate with JC Player Management, an agency run by Josy and Saikou's good friend Nick, known for representing notable players such as Leandro Trossard.
In 2019, Saikou took on a part-time role with Belgian First Division club KV Kortrijk. That same year, he, along with Peter, now CEO of the club, made their first visit to The Gambia for a scouting mission. This visit marked the beginning of Saikou’s deeper involvement in nurturing Gambian talent.
Inspired by his experiences, Saikou founded his own agency, SBS Consulting, where his first success story emerged with Alagie Saine, whom he brought on trials. Soon after, Alieu Fadera became the first official player signed under his management. Saikou Saidy's continued commitment to developing and promoting footballers highlights his vital role in connecting Gambian players with opportunities abroad.
The Agent's Role : Support and Strategy.
An agent is much more than just a contract negotiator. They are the advisor, mentor, and often a key figure in building a player’s career. In Alieu Fadera’s case, Saikou played a vital role in his development, not just in managing his career but also as personal support. From the beginning, Saikou believed in Fadera’s potential, guiding him through every significant career decision.
The Role of a Mentor.
In addition to being an agent, we often serves as a mentor to Fadera. This dimension is essential in the agent-player relationship. Beyond contracts and negotiations, an agent must guide the player in making the right career choices, help them stay focused on their goals, and not get distracted by pressure or fleeting opportunities. It’s this guidance, patience, and long-term vision that allow players like Fadera, Gomez, Tambedou, Bojang, or Gassama to realize their full potential.
